LOMBARDIA PADENGHE SUL GARDA

Port
Via del Porto
45° 29' 47'' N – 10° 30' 45'' E

Padenghe sul Garda rises up at the water's edge on the lower part of Lake Garda, in the province of Brescia. The town is located on a hill in a beautiful scenic position and it is part of Valtenesi - an area extending from Portese, which lies to the south of Salò, and up to Desenzano.
This village has a little port and a charming flat beach.
The climate is mild and the town is characterised by a Mediterranean vegetation, typical of the southern area of Lake Garda.
Archaeological finds prove its Neolithic origins. In the Roman Era this town was an important business harbor and the patrician families built marvellous mansions and temples. For shelter reasons, during the Barbaric invasions, the inhabited areas moved from the lake bank to the hilltop, where the castle was built.
Interesting buildings to sightsee are Villa Barbieri, which currently represents the municipal hill, and the Medieval Castle, that surrounds the dwelling houses of the ancient Altura hamlet with its ramparts. In the castle's complex, an impressive tower stands out against the sky: from this one you can enjoy a delightful view on the Lake and on the Valtenesi landscape.
