LOMBARDIA MONIGA SUL GARDA

Port
Via del Porto, 15
45° 31' 16'' N – 10° 32' 24'' E

Moniga del Garda is a little village in the province of Brescia, situated on the western coast of Lake Garda, extending also inland, between fabulous olive groves. This town is a part of Valtenesi and it is renowned concerning wine and food, as it is also known as "Città del Chiaretto" for the production of rosé wine.
From this little town, a panoramic road, approximately 10 kilometres long, leads to Salò, crossing the production area of Chiaretto.
The remains of an ancient stilt house, found on the lake's shore, together with some commemorative stones of the Roman Era, prove that Moniga del Garda is one of the most ancient inhabited areas of the Lake.
The town centre has preserved a medieval fascination, with tiny streets and alleys. It is interesting to sightsee the majestic castle (of the 10th century), which is situated on the higher point of the town: in its courtyard there is a little residential zone.
