A few minutes from Gardone is a new stop, the hamlet of Fasano, with several points of interest for visitors: the 17th century Parrocchiale (parish) with is 16th century lake front loggia, the Villa Zanardelli, the eclectic residence where the famous Brescian statesman died in 1903. Another brief tract of navigation brings you to Maderno, the pleasant and well frequented tourist spot which along with the neighbouring center Toscolano, forms the Comune Toscolano-Maderno. A point of interest in Maderno is the 12th century Romanesque church Sant'Andrea with its mid 15th century belfry, and the 18th century parish Sant'Ercolano. Toscolano is probably best defined by Benacum, the most important center of the Western Riviera during the Roman era. In the 14th century, thanks to Gabriele Di Pietro da Treviso, paper production (a tradition still alive in the following century) and the art of printing were introduced here. Along the Lake, you can see several 16th an 17th century palaces. Maderno is the main ferry station connecting this shore with Torri del Benasco on the Verona shore. The eight kilometer route is practicable with the frequency of two boats performing nine daily runs. This schedule is intensified during the summer season. Leaving Maderno, after a 25 minutes ride during which you pass the promontory where the Toscolano stream flows into the Lake, you arrive in Bogliaco. Along a shore scattered with olive trees, cypress trees, gardens and lemon groves lies the town's main attraction - "Villa Betotti". Erected in the middle of the 18th century, based on the plans of Adriano Critofoli and Antonio Marchetti, it is a majestic three story building with richly decorated interiors (closed to visitors).
